Verdict
Proud Boast could provide the answer in a tricky handicap with Maktavish and Malapropism the others to form the shortlist. The selection has been a little disappointing of late but she is dropped in grade here and will appreciate the faster surface and she could go well. Maktavish is not the most straightforward of characters but he has plenty of ability and if he is in the mood then he could make the frame. However, he goes especially well for jockey Paul Hanagan who has won on him twice this season, and as he is suspended here we will pass him over on this occasion. Malapropism is another that is difficult to catch right and he was well beaten at Sandown last time. However he is well-weighted on his best form and he is one that should not be dismissed lightly. Ptarmigan Ridge will be very interesting if there is any rain and he ran really well at York last week behind Artie in a competitive handicap. He enjoyed the cut in the ground at York and if he got his conditions here then he would be a danger to all. This is a race where many would have chances on their best form and we will stick with Proud Boast as our tentative choice.
