In depth

Verdict

Silk Hall is an 11-year-old and still hasn't managed a win over fences but the remaining quartet all have claims in this novices' handicap. Special Catch does best in small fields but is probably a few pounds too high. Notnowsam could also do with some help from the handicapper and Monbeg River has been creeping up the weights, despite finding one too good in his last two over course and distance. MORNING ROYALTY has coped well with a drop in distance since the turn off the year. He wasn't beaten far in a blanket finish last time at Kelso and Richard Johnson taking over the reins from regular pilot Brian Hughes is hardly a negative.
