Verdict

Sad Mad Bad can stamp his authority on this hunter-chase field, with Strong Tartan and Bold Classic expected to give him most to do. Sad Mad Bad was fairly useful over hurdles and fences and it was no surprise when he made a winning hunter-chase debut at Sedgefield last month. He did not put in a perfect round of jumping and needed every yard of the trip, but tackles the same distance today and faces no harder task. Strong Tartan has been a grand servant to the Anderson Greens and should give them some fun now that he too has switched to this sphere. He had the stuffing knocked out of him by a mistake on his introduction to the delights of hunter-chasing here recently though and it is to be hoped that his confidence has not take a knock. He still makes more appeal than Bold Classic who has yet to win over fences and is fully exposed, but Sad Mad Bad should take this comfortably.
