Verdict
A good way to kick-start the card, with the improving Swan Nebula fancied to hold off Sumora, Nufoos and Castelletto to give Godolphin the ideal start to the day. The selection is proving to be a versatile character and has landed her last two starts with a degree of purpose. The drop back to six furlongs should not inconvenience her on this ground and she is expected to have too much of a finishing punch for her rivals to cope with. Nufoos represents Mark Johnston and has come into her own after a spell in the doldrums after her maiden win at Leicester. Admittedly her lesser efforts came against some very useful opposition and time may tell that she was far from disgraced in defeat. Her comfortable accounting for Miss Meggy at Beverley underlined that she has not suffered any ill effects from her down the field run in the Cherry Hinton and, as she was not beaten far that day, it is safe to assume that she should be involved in the shake-up here. Sumora is on a retrieval mission after her reputation took a battering at Doncaster last week. This first try at six furlongs can help her banish that memory and she still remains of interest despite dropping out very tamely in the Flying Childers. The market will give us a good indication as to whether she is expected to make amends today. However, there are no such doubts about Swan Nebula, who was delivered with a perfectly timed run last time and will be very hard to repel if similar tactics are employed today.
