Verdict

Doctor Hilary can make the most of his experience to beat Mick Channon's newcomer Toss The Caber, with Aunty Euro expected to make her presence felt. Doctor Hilary holds entries in a couple of big sales races in the autumn, so is obviously held in high regard and will be fancied to step up on his debut fourth to Royal Alchemist at Nottingham last week. That was in softish ground and this son of Mujahid, an 88,000gns purchase, should appreciate the faster conditions. He may have most to fear from Toss The Caber, especially with Mick Channon's team in fine form at present. The son of Derby winner Dr Devious will have been well prepared, but will no doubt improve both for the outing and for a step up in trip as the season goes on. Aunty Euro has had two runs over five furlongs and will surely appreciate this slightly stiffer test. In receipt of the fillies' allowance, she may take a hand in proceedings without being good enough. All in all, Doctor Hilary, who has the most scope, looks the one to be on in the opener.
