In depth

Verdict

Sandwith has the beating of Rothesay Dancer on their running at Musselburgh earlier this month, meeting on the same terms, but the longer trip should suit Jim Goldie's mare so she has to be considered but preference is for River Thames. The selection deserves to get his head in front having run well when placed in each of his last two starts, latterly behind Baybshambles at Thirsk, and a reproduction of recent form may well suffice for Kevin Ryan's gelding against some rivals who do not appear to be particularly well treated. Jim Goldie's John Keats has shown a consistent level of form this season but has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper and he may have to settle for minor honours once more. David Barker's Dorn Dancer was narrowly beaten by Rothesay Dancer over course and distance last time and she should again be thereabouts but preference is for River Thames.
