In depth

Verdict

QUIET CANDID had shown a modicum of ability in bumpers but it wasn't until she made her debut over hurdles at Towcester that she showed her true worth. She ran right away from the odds-on Ballyhollow that day and, with more to come, will take some beating. Gilnockie hasn't been beaten far in his last two races at Musselburgh but will need a bit more here and isn't certain to finish ahead of Ginger Jack, who was a few lengths behind last time on his hurdling bow. Northside Prince has been unfortunate to come up against useful rivals in his most recent outings though he's looked as though a longer trip would suit, a remark that also applies to winning point-to-pointer Three Faces West who made a bright start over hurdles over 2m4f here three weeks ago.
