Verdict
Skandiburg was probably the best of these over hurdles but his jumping at Fakenham on his chasing bow left much to be desired and a big improvement will be required here against several potentially-useful novices. Empire Steel won a handicap over 2m4f here on his first try over the larger obstacles and Hear No Evil won over 3m at Wetherby. Both the latter pair are penalised, however, and that could be difficult to overcome in the conditions. Both of Nicky Richards’ pair are making their seasonal reappearances. Skiddaw Tara won over hurdles at Carlisle in March but Brian Hughes partners MAYO STAR, who is 2-2 for the Greystoke handler and won on heavy going here earlier in the year.
