Verdict

PETER GRIMES is selected to prevail in this juveniles¿ contest, while Master Fong and George Nympton are short-listed. The last-named should improve plenty for his Market Rasen debut in September and is likely to act with cut, so he can get competitive, while former Luca Cumani inmate Master Fong is almost certain to relish this softer ground, and if transferring his flat abilities to this sphere for Donald McCain he could go very close. Nicky Henderson's Wilbury Star was rated the same as Master Fong on the level, but his form suggests that he will want better ground than this to be seen to best effect over timber. Whispering Spirit barely gets a mile on the flat and is also over a stone inferior to the previous two we have mentioned, so he has to be opposed on grounds of class and stamina, and we'll take Peter Grimes to win it. Alan King's runners are performing well, and although he does have a few pounds to find with a couple of opponents from the flat, he looks sure to get home here and acted with juice in the ground on the level, and we will take him to make a winning debut over hurdles.
