In depth

Verdict

Having fallen at the first fence on his reappearance at Sedgefield in December, Tom George's Tank Top ran a lot better when a close third behind Knighton Combe at Newbury subsequently and he makes more appeal than stable companion King Stanley, who makes his chasing debut having won over hurdles at Hereford recently, but a better bet looks to be TARQUINIUS. Charlie Mann's gelding was not at his best at Wincanton last month but earlier form this term reads well and with no doubts over trip or ground for this staying mudlark, he should give backers a good run for their money. Don McCain's Gershwinner has been well held in both starts this term and looks best left out of calculations, while The Gangerman has more to do off his new mark than when successful at Warwick last month as he has to race off a 6lb higher mark. Ya I Know has a bit to find with The Gangerman on running that day, while Richard Lee's Western Whisky won well at Ludlow last time but a 7lb rise for that victory makes this tougher. Several of these have chances but Tarquinius has trip and ground conditions to suit and he looks worth backing to resume winning ways.
