In depth

Verdict

There are plenty in with chances in this handicap hurdle but a slight preference is for Wild Cane Ridge with Cloudy Lane, Ile Maurice and Rowley Hill standing out amongst the others. Len Lungo trained horses have been a bit out of sorts lately but he had a winner on Thursday and it may be possible that his yard have turned a corner. Wild Cane Ridge was sent off favourite in his last nine starts following two impressive bumper wins. He has won five of those races and returns to hurdling following a successful spell, novice chasing. He is a thorough stayer who will appreciate three miles in soft ground and he should give an excellent account of himself. The very useful Cloudy Lane represents the Ginger McCain-yard. He comes here seeking a third consecutive success on the back of two novice hurdle wins at Haydock. He looks tough as old boots but this step up into handicap-company and a step up in trip may be too much for him. Ile Maurice travels down from Ferdy Murphy¿s West Witton yard and he has every chance under a lightweight in these conditions. He shaped as though crying out for a step up in trip when a half- length behind Diklers Rose at Wetherby last time. That was over two and a half miles and he will appreciate the longer distance.
