In depth
Verdict
Sir Douglas was only beaten a quarter of a length last time out and is taken to transfer his consistently good all-weather form to turf today off a 2lb lower mark. Malapropism, Spanish Ace and Who's Winning appear to be the three main dangers. The selection has only had two runs on the turf in his fairly short career but he still looks to be progressing nicely and with Paul Hanagan in great from at the moment, the four-year-old has solid claims in an open contest. He does drop back to the minimum trip for the first time today which is a slight worry, and if any horse is to take advantage, it could be Spanish Ace. He is now 9lbs below his highest winning mark after some average runs in better company last season, and the booking of Jamie Spencer catches the eye. Who's Winning has a better record on the turf than the all-weather and now back on his favoured fast ground he must rate a danger off a decent mark, as must Willhewiz if fit enough after a break. Malapropism's form petered off at the end of last season and as he has had plenty of career runs, he may now be seen at his best when fresh like today. However his high draw is a hindrance for sure. Mind The Style and Kempsey both have good low draws so must be in with place claims at least, however we will stick with Sir Douglas to land the spoils.
