Verdict
Noble Calling looks the one to be on here, with Sariba, Joely Green and Fletcher others for the short list. The selection was third over course and distance first time out this season before being well beaten when dropped back considerably in trip to 10 furlongs last time out. A confirmed fast ground lover, the return to this marathon distance will suit and he can maintain some good trainer form from Ron Hodges to score. Sariba will appreciate this very fast ground, having won on in here at the track last July. The five-year-old races from 3lb higher here and on that basis has to be given some sort of a chance, though she was held off this same rating of 40 here last time and though we think she will go well she may again be found wanting. Fletcher has been a specialist in staying events over the past half dozen season or more and is not the horse he was, but he is still capable in this sort of company and won off this mark a couple of starts ago, so must enter calculations especially over this longer trip. Of the others, Joely Green makes appeal on his Musselburgh second to Galandora last month, but a rise for that success found him out last time, and as consistency is not a strong point we are happy to oppose him here. For the selection then, we return to Noble Calling.
