In depth

Verdict

This is a valuable handicap for the track and it’s attracted a strong entry including Lincoln runner-up Oh This Is Us, who is only 2lb higher. Hors De Combat has run well twice at Meydan since joining Denis Coakley and Bunbury is fit from the all-weather. Boomshackerlacker ran well in the Betfred Mile at Goodwood last year after winning at Newbury but hasn’t raced since August. EL VIP has a shorter absence to overcome and is also less exposed. He won two of his four starts in his first season and there should be more to come this year. The likes of The Warrior, Invermere and Worlds His Oyster may find today’s company too hot.
