    Verdict

A competitive field goes to post for this claimer and many would have a chance on their best form but the main protagonists appear to be Erracht, Gentle Response, Byo and Allerton Boy and we will take a chance on Gentle Response. The three-year-old was a fair fifth in a handicap over course and distance last time behind Tappit and with the drop in grade and conditions to suit he will be hard to beat. Erracht will make a bold bid to make all the running but his best form of late has come on easier tracks and he will not appreciate any rain. Byo is another worthy of respect he was a fair fourth behind Little Edward last time and despite top weight he has definite place claims. Allerton Boy could also go well on his best place form but he remains a maiden after 14 attempts and for that reason he is opposed on this occasion. Of the remainder Muqtadi has been in fair form of late but he never runs two races the same and we are happy to stick with Gentle Response.
