In depth

Verdict

Young Bertie keeps on improving and can make it four wins in a row this afternoon, Hannicean and Ellen's Girl could be main rivals. Hughie Morrison's runner landed the hat-trick in fine style at Windsor, just having to be shaken up to beat Roodolph by half a length. He has only gone up another four pounds so the handicapper has given him every chance for this latest test. Hannicean was over estimated by the handicapper following his maiden win but has now dropped down to a reasonable mark and can certainly figure in the finish today. Meanwhile Ellen's Girl didn't take long to bounce back to winning form, having easily got the better of Call Me Punch at Salisbury recently. Red Somerset is another in good heart at present and should be thereabouts again, but there could still be more to come from the progressive Young Bertie and he gets the vote.
