In depth
Verdict
Mowazana made a very pleasing debut and can improve to land this competitive maiden, Regal Velvet, Valart and Shout look the best of the opposition. Marcus Tregining's filly was a little bit green in that Sandown event but still managed to finish third behind Piety, she will have learnt plenty from that experience and looks the best option here. Regal Velvet was runner up to the good yardstick Pirouetting at Sandown last time and hails from a yard amongst the winners. She looks the main threat to the selection. Shout disappointed last time out at Chepstow but has strong claims on her debut run at Newbury. Meanwhile Valart is a consistent type that is capable of reaching the frame again. However Mowazana has plenty of scope for improvement and she gets the vote.
