Verdict
Mick Channon will be keen to land the race named in honour of a mare that he trained so Malapropism is given as the selection in a tricky handicap. Out of form so far this season, a return to the best of his juvenile runs - which came from May onwards - should see him competitive. She is by no means a confident selection, though. Among those to consider are Star Lad, a pretty good benchmark to the form, who has been second in each of his last two runs from today's mark. He is closely weighted with E C Too on the most recent of those runs. Janes Valentine makes her Turf debut after some fair all-weather efforts. Recent course and distance winner, Arabian Knight, has an obvious chance although that success came in a claimer. Tamarella is the other course winner in the contest but now races from an eight-pound higher mark. Don't be surprised to see Wild Ovation, who is related to both Bold Edge and Brave Edge, improve in this company, while lightly-raced all-weather winner, Roman Quintet, is another to consider. Fleetwood Bay won a valuable sales race as a two-year-old but his form has been in-and-out since then.
