    Verdict

SPARTIC showed enough here last time to suggest that he can get off the mark today, with Cathcart Castle and Dark Dune others with claims. Our selection improved significantly on his Nottingham debut to show a good attitide when just held here last time out, also on fast ground. This trip is ideal for now and a repeat effort or improvement would make him tough to beat. Cathcart Castle did not really come on quite as hoped for his first outing, but nonetheless his Folkestone run was reasonable and if he can now get into a higher gear he could go close. Dark Dune has had three runs and has not pulled up any trees just yet. It seemed likely that Tim Easterby might send him handicapping but he keeps him to this grade and support would be interesting. Newport Arch is a well-related newcomer who should be monitored in the betting but Spartic holds the aces and is taken to score.
