In depth
Verdict
DESERT DREAMER sets a decent standard here, and gets the nod ahead of Bertie Vista and Mister Jingles. David Evans' gelding has had two wins, two seconds and a third from five runs this year, and steps back up to the trip over which the victories came. They were on the all-weather at Lingfield, but he's more than capable of handling this surface too, albeit his last win on turf was nearly two years ago. He's got an entry here tomorrow too, but this is presumably seen as offering a better chance of victory. Richard Evans claims five pounds, so avoiding top weight status. Bertie Vista remains nought from 15 and may prefer it a little softer underfoot. The yard's form may also be seen as a negative. Mister Jingles is one of only two course and distance winners in the field, the other being Stonehaugh. He loves it round here, and probably needed the run last month when third here in a lower grade race. If coming on from that he could land the spoils, but our preference is for Desert Dreamer.
