In depth

Verdict

Almost half of this big field are previous course and distance winners. GINGER JAM rattled up a four-timer here last summer and is starting to slip down the weights again. He wasn’t beaten far at Doncaster last month in a better race than this and a reproduction of that effort would probably suffice with stall four no disadvantage. Kendred Soul is a fast starter and is well placed to take advantage of his early pace in stall two but Haydock winner will need plenty of her luck from an outside berth and is upped in grade again. At the head of the weights, Athollblair Boy and Line Of Reason are tough sprinters but could have been better drawn. The latter’s stablemate Buniann and Newcastle runner-up Birkenhead may be the pick of the remainder
