Verdict
Solo Act would not need to be anything special to land this at the first time of asking. Monsieur Jourdain has the plumb draw and will be a big threat if he can utilise one of the best tools Beverley has to offer an inexperienced horse, while Noble Heart is another to bear in mind from the top half of the draw and is respected. Desert Falls has experience of the track and also merits a second look in the betting for an each-way punt. Soft ground is an imponderable for the Richard Whittaker-trained newcomer at this stage; and his supporters can only guess as to whether he will adapt to the surface. The market may be the best guide on that score. Noble Heart is bred to be effective at this sort of trip and, at 26,000gns, was easily the most expensive purchase in the line up. The form of the stable's two-year-olds (0-from-10 this season) has to be a concern, though. Monsieur Jourdain, who has the benefit of experience on his side, has the plumb draw on the far rail and should not be underestimated. He was not given a hard time at Thirsk a fortnight ago and, as jockey bookings suggest he is the main hope from Tim Easterby¿s yard, a big run cannot be discounted. However, Solo Act has a more appealing profile and can be fancied to be cherry ripe for her first career start. The daughter of One Cool Cat is a half-sister to the useful sprinter Galeota and, as numerous have been pencilled in for her, she is obviously highly regarded by her connections. It is also true that she will not really have to be anything special to lead this lot home and Solo Act appears to have been found a solid platform to launch her racing career.
