Verdict

Division one of the maiden can go to Space Maker ahead of Ben Casey, Russian Rio and newcomer Boppys Dream who comes from an in-form yard. Space Maker has a peach of a draw in stall 11, and on the evidence so far, should make a bold bid to open his account at the third time of asking. The son of Almutawakel is out to atone after finishing last of eight at Ayr when sent off as the 4-6 favourite. He did not help his cause by hanging to the left throughout and was eased down when beaten. He also showed the same tendency on his debut at Windsor but shaped much better when fourth of 15 to Happy Event, and in the hope that he has learnt enough from both efforts, Michael Bell's charge is given another chance. Ben Casey has a bad draw to overcome but otherwise has claims on his third at Redcar, while Russian Rio shaped well at Carlisle and should have no trouble landing a moderate maiden at least. Boppys Dream would not have to be anything special to take a hand on her debut, given the stable's record this season, but without being overly confident, we return to Space Maker as the answer.
