Sawaah has found a new lease of life since he was eased in grade and is expected to be hard to beat in the opener; Prince of Gold has held his own of late and, along with his stablemate Crush On You, looks worth considering as an alternative. Baby Barry is also in with a shout on the best of his efforts, although a draw in stall four does him few favours. Crush On You got his head in front in a classified stakes at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start, but then ran a stinker when sent Southwell last month. He has something to find on a literal reading of that form. Still his efforts on turf have not been totally devoid of encouragement and there is a strong possibility he can be a force in this company. As a hold-up horse, Prince Of Gold may not be so badly inconvenienced by his low draw and the booking of Neil Callan is a positive move. Expect a late flourish from the partnership. Another worth noting in the betting is Pepper Road, who can go well if he runs to type (goes well with a seasonal run behind him). However, Sawaah holds inescapable form figures coming in to the race and, despite him being a hard horse to predict, he has his act together sufficiently well to be fancied to land his four-timer today.
