In depth

Verdict

Artdeal showed plenty of zest and enthusiasm on his debut and is selected as the one to be on here; Runswick Bay puts the Brocklesby form to the test and is respected, while Berrymead and Mission Impossible are worth noting in the betting. Mission Impossible is a half-brother to juvenile winner Song Huntress and can be expected to find the trip to his liking. He was re-sold for 18,000gns and can (assuming he holds ability) be placed to recoup the outlay before too long. Jockey bookings suggest that Berrymead just edges out Indecision as the main hope from the Mick Easterby yard, so any confidence shown in the betting ring should not be ignored. Runswick Bay was on the 'wrong side' when he finished fifth in Brocklesby last month, but he showed plenty of speed to make all on the stands rail. He is fairly drawn this time and will have no excuses. However, Artdeal was not beaten far by a potentially useful type at Kempton 11 days ago and, with that experience under his belt, this appears to be a good opportunity for him to bolster his profile with a first career success.
