Verdict
Henry Cecil's older horses are in pretty good shape this term and Calonnog can add to the stables success, with Tree Tops and Portmanteau put forward as the main dangers. This improving four-year-old put up a solid showing when finishing runner up behind Karamea in a decent looking maiden at Thirsk last time. It was only her second ever racecourse appearance so further improvement can be expected. Tree Tops will be a tough nut to crack, she had no answer to Pont Allaire's finishing kick at Nottingham last time, but had some promising types behind, another big run is on the cards. The best of the rest could;d be Portmanteau who was a very expensive yearling and is certain to be better than she has shown so far. Not the easiest of races to evaluate but Calonnog looks the safest proposition.
