Verdict
Baltic King may be up to the task here, with Colonel Cotton, Dazzling Bay and Nights Cross not out of it either. Baltic King is on a retrieval mission, having finished sixth of nine behind Celtic Mill in the Listed Scarborough Stakes at Doncaster last time. Hughie Morrison's charge has a touch of class though, having earlier captured the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sprint at Ascot. He enjoys a stiff finish and so should be more at home on this course and is taken to bounce back. Colonel Cotton stayed on well behind Dowager at Yarmouth and could be running back into form, while Dazzling Bay, down the field in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon, will appreciate the faster conditions and is another to consider. Mick Channon has hit a rich vein of form so Nights Cross should not be ruled out of calculations either. He has taken on some of the top sprinters around, but seems to reserve his best efforts for his away trips. He has the class to take a hand, but we shall stick with Baltic King who has conditions very much in his favour today.
