Shadowtime had Desert Romance back in third at Pontefract last week and should go well despite a penalty. A bigger worry for him is if the ground turns slow which wouldn't do recent Thirsk winner Sardanapalus any favours either. Rex Romanorum won in soft going in July though he's 6lb higher today and has been well beaten since but Save The Bees is not without a chance off his current mark. Course specialist Eeny Mac has won three times at the track this season and can figure if allowed an easy lead but a punt is taken on the lightly-raced SWIFT ENCOUNTER, well beaten on his recent comeback but a maiden winner in soft ground over C&D last year.
