Verdict
McEldowney Baylaw Star, Grande Terre and Gifted Flame are a handful against the field in a wideopen affair and the narrow vote is given to McEldowney. The selection won well last time out when beating Anthemion and although he has a penalty for that win he won in the style of an improver and off what remains a fair mark he will be hard to beat. Baylaw Star rates the main danger on his best form but he just gave the impression the handicapper had caught up with him when third behind Saxon Lil last time and for that reason he is passed over on this occasion. Grande Terre is another that could go well but his best form is with much more cut in the ground and he looks opposable on that basis. Gifted Flame is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but he is another that looks weighted up to his best. Of the remainder Zanjeer has dropped to a handy mark and could run well at a price but for the winner we return to McEldowney.
