Verdict
Some very familiar characters are set to come into opposition but they may all have concede best to the unexposed Can Can Flyer, who makes more appeal than Red Forest, Stallone and Melodian, who are expected to put up the most resistance. The last named ran a little flat at Newcastle on Friday night and may be feeling the effects of what has been a busy little spell for him. He has a tendency to sulk if he cannot grab the early lead and his fate will soon become apparent in today's contest. Stallone has a habit of popping up in races like this and could give them all plenty to think about if he is on song. However, like the in-form Red Forest, he has a little to prove on this softer surface and is passed over today. Which brings us to Can Can Flyer, who bolted in when he made a belated reappearance here earlier in the month. Mark Johnston's knack of improving horses when they step up in trip has been well documented, so there seems little point in opposing the tried and tested formula as Can Can Flyer sets out to add to his tally this afternoon.
