In depth

Verdict

A terrific race in store where we narrowly prefer EASTERN EMPIRE for whom the step up in trip looks sure to suit; the shortlist consists primarily of Honimiere and Eastern Aria. John Hills doesn't send too many to the track but this son of Dubai Destination looks sure to run well. His recent one-paced effort at Pontefract suggests that this trip will suit, and being out of a mare who won over 11 furlongs, his pedigree hints at it as well. Eastern Aria is holding her form well in decent handicaps but she looks high enough in the weights, and despite her jockey riding with lots of confidence at the moment, she is taken on, along with stablemates Alpen Glen and Yorgunnabelucky who have both been below-par of late. Of more interest are Dhushan and Mull Of Killough. The former drops in class after two Group Three runs but they were both poor and blinkers need to brighten his spark, whilst the latter ran well in defeat last time out at Haydock and looks worth a try at this longer trip. Honimiere is a talented filly; the loss of Robert Winston in the saddle is a negative but the step back up in distance must be seen as a positive. Goliaths Boy holds Watergate on their run behind Embsay Crag last time, Tepmokea was well-held at York last time, whilst Ethics Girl is a progressive filly but this is a big step up in class. A terrific handicap for the track and we will side with Eastern Empire.
