Verdict
MY KINGDOM is preferred here to Peter Island and For Life in a battle of the course and distance winners. Hughie Morrison's charge ran well in defeat at Goodwood last week, filling second spot behind Quasi Congaree. He looks ready to win off this mark of 80 and with the ground to suit he should go close. Peter Island is a speedy gelding who will try and string these out; he has come back in good form this year and is respected with Daryll Holland booked for the ride. Lodi was well-held at Windsor last month but will be fitter now and this longer trip will help, Whiskey Junction has a length to find with Peter Island on their Kempton running but has a nice pull in the weights, whilst the Irish raider Johnstown Lad needs a market check as he tumbles down the handicap. For Life and Sherjawy have both won at the track and both help to contribute even more pace to the race, whilst that is likely to suit Poppanan who appreciated a strong tempo when winning a week ago at Windsor and he escapes a penalty for that success. Not an easy puzzle to solve, but we will stick with My Kingdom.
