In depth

Verdict

Madrinho sets a fair standard albeit the handicapper has upped him 2lb for a recent near miss over 7f here but RED ALERT is on at roll at present and Tony Carroll puts up an apprentice rider to negate the penalty accrued in lieu of last week’s success. Whistledown has prevailed previously at Epsom and placed here before while Boom The Groom is generally at his best on slightly faster ground though it would be folly to rule out the veteran given he proved in June that was still up to winning races. Big Bard came to hand at this time of the season last year and is respected.
