In depth
Verdict
Campeon has shown enough in recent effort to suggest he can land a race of this class, Rowan Lodge and Avertigo appear to be the main rivals. Mark Wallace's gelding has made steady progress throughout the campaign, culminating in an excellent second behind He's A Diamond over the seven furlong trip here last time. The drop in trip shouldn't be a problem as he stormed into the lead three furlongs out in that contest, only to be caught in the last quarter of a mile. Rowan Lodge is also on the upgrade judged on his latest effort at Thirsk when going down by just over two lengths to Sir Anthony. Avertigo made a very pleasing Lingfield debut, when finishing well to take fifth behind Time For You. Willie Muir's juveniles tend to improve on their first runs so this one looks set to figure in the finish. The once raced Top Form could be best of the rest, but our vote goes to Campeon.
