Verdict
The Michael Jarvis-trained Kirkham Abbey has so far been disappointing this term and is probably best watched again so preference is for the unexposed Scriptorium, who is preferred to Chocolate Boy. The last mentioned represents the in-form stable of Gary Moore but may not be suited by the drop back to this distance having seemingly been well suited by 1m4f of late. Rebate represents another stable in good heart but he has a poor strike rate and is another that is difficult to recommend with any confidence. The Peter Harris-trained Kernel Dowery finally opened his account at the 17th time of asking when landing a handicap at Yarmouth but this looks a tougher assignment for the son of Sri Pekan. The Mark Tompkins-trained Canadian Storm has given only glimpses of ability so far and of more interest may be Prince Valentine, for who the booking of Richard Quinn takes the eye. However, Luca Cumani has his string in good heart at present and his representative Scriptorium comes here in better form than most and remains open to improvement after just four career outings. He gets the vote.
