In depth
Verdict
Croix de Guerre improved dramatically to land a handicap here nine days ago and is confidently selected to follow up against the ultra-consistent Flying Spirit and Scenic Lady. Sir Mark Prescott's charge had shown nothing on the racetrack in three starts, but after being gelded, absolutely bolted up here on his latest start. There is no telling how much improvement there is to come and off his current mark, must surely take all the beating. At the age of three, he has the size and scope to rattle up a sequence before the handicapper gets his measure. His main rival would appear to be Flying Spirit who has won three of his last five starts, including here at the end of May. He seems to like these sort of tracks, but Gary Moore's charge has a bit more to do here as his impressive run was gained in lowly company. Scenic Lady has not won since April but was seventh here last here and looks to be coming back to the boil in time to better that position. Dispol Evita is not badly treated and has place claims, but for the winner it just has to be Croix de Guerre.
