Dolce Piccata could be about to strike form and is given the nod over Redwood Star, with Parkside Pursuit, Guns Blazing and Cloann making for a close contest on paper. Dolce Piccata has only won once from 25 career starts, but just of late has been showing signs that another success is imminent. Brian Meehan's filly, a winner on fast ground at Musselburgh two years ago, has failed to hit the heights and now languishes on a mark in the 60's, but there was not much wrong with her second to today's rival Redwood Star on top of the ground at Bath six days ago, and if she gets out quickly again, we think that she can go one better here. She can meet her conqueror on five-pound better terms for the neck that separated them, and that should be more than enough for her to turn the tables on the topweight. Parkside Pursuit beat Redwood Star at Chepstow in July, and also meets that one on favourable terms so cannot be ruled out lightly, while Guns Blazing will go well if allowed to get out in front. Cloann is another trailblazer but she is not as well treated now and is passed over in favour of Dolce Piccata.
