        Verdict

        ASHFORD ISLAND was runner-up over 7f here recently when well ahead of both Frank Bridge and Divine Touch. Beaten only a head over track and trip before that, he should go close again if proving as effective in soft going. Lucky Leyf was still beaten a long way when placed at Lingfield and Long Island is getting no closer despite sliding down the handicap but Eisha Baby may do better making her handicap debut today.
