In depth

Verdict

Mud Monkey is proving to be a capable hurdler but yet to win in ten flat starts, we must pass him over and instead side with Maria Antonia ahead of English Archer. A winner of four of her nineteen starts for Paul Blockley, the selection has proven herself to be at home on various underfoot conditions. She won't mind if any rain comes and she is fancied to oblige. Always Best would have solid claims on the pick of his form but he comes here out of form, whilst English Archer has won just once in seventeen starts. However he has looked at home on ground with a bit of give in so might prefer a drop of rain. Beckenham's Secret didn't run very well when last seen, whilst Bob's Your Uncle is dropped in trip which looks sure to suit. Mud Monkey gets plenty of weight as a three-year-old and cannot be overlooked as he has run well in defeat in the past, however Maria Antonia is fancied to up her strike-rate to 25%.
