Verdict

Under a penalty Fault looks worth taking on; we do so in the shape of War And Peace and MAGROOM, with the last-named given the narrow call. Our selection has a 6lb pull in the weights for finishing just behind Fault last time and, as that was his seasonal debut, better can be expected. Ron Hodges' gelding has won twice here too so, despite the fact that a career best is required to win, he's got plenty in his favour. Fault did well to win last time having looked there to be shot at close home. That kind of willing attitude should ensure another bold display but a 6lb penalty makes life tougher and he's not the most consistent of types. For that reason War And Peace is considered a stronger candidate here having just his second start for David Evans. It's true that he remains a maiden but with David Probert taking the ride for the first time today could be the day he gets off the mark. Beauchamp Wizard has plenty to find with Fault on their recent meeting but this horse is at least unexposed whilst Choreography can never be discounted here having won four times in total at the track, three of which came at today's trip. Only Pab Special makes any each-way appeal of the remainder but this race should concern just three, of whom we much prefer Magroom.
