Verdict
Lyvius clearly isn’t the force of old and is getting plenty of weight to his rivals. Little Bruce has won his last two over this sort of trip but has suffered a sharp rise in the ratings. Minella Fiveo won on heavy going at Uttoxeter last month and it’s no surprise to see him back over the smaller obstacles as he clearly didn’t take to fences at Market Rasen subsequently. THYNE FOR GOLD couldn’t cope with a step up in grade here last time but had won over course and distance in November. Conditions should be perfect for Donald McCain’s novice, who could be the answer to a tricky puzzle, though Political Quiz is better than he showed at Doncaster last time.

Little Bruce (IRE) 7-4fav (11-9) Mid-division, headway before 3 out, left in lead 2 out, soon clear, won at Ayr 2m 4f hcp (4) sft in Jan beating The Doorman (11-12) by 6l, 12 ran.
Thyne For Gold (IRE) 8-1 (10-4) Prominent, pushed along before 6th, not fluent 3 out, soon driven, well beaten before 2 out, plugged on to press for modest 3rd near finish, 4th of 7, 21 1/2l behind Nietzsche (10-0) at Catterick 2m 3f hcp (3) gs in Jan.
