In depth

Verdict

The Reverend can make a winning debut over hurdles, with fellow newcomer Kupka and reappearing The Frosty Ferret the main dangers. The Reverend has been purchased by big-spending Graham Wylie, and this son of Taipan out of an Over The River mare is sure to be placed to good effect. The fact that he starts off over three miles tells us that he is no speedster and he will no doubt be going fencing eventually. He has been found a nice opportunity to make his debut and would not have to be anything special to go in first time. Kupka on the other hand is Flat-bred but his stable are sure to have another good season up north and so he will be found suitable races in time. The Frosty Ferret has the edge on experience, having finished third here in April. That was his second visit to Carlisle, so he should know the track by now. In addition, he will handle the ground and should be suited by the step up in trip judged by the way he stayed on last time. Any money for Dayenoo would be interesting but for the winner we shall side with The Reverend.
