In depth

Verdict

This could be a good day for the Howard Johnson yard, and Diamond Sal can play her part by taking this from Pay Attention, Top Style and Uptown Lad. The selection has not been seen out since being pulled up when over the top in the spring, but she is effective from two to two-and-a-half miles, handles cut, and jumps well. The form of her three hurdle starts earlier in the year stand up well in the context of this race and she looks good enough to score. Pay Attention has to concede her plenty of weight, though he put up a pleasing debut behind the useful Ursis at Wetherby when he looked in need of the run. He'll strip fitter here and could go very well. Top Style will enjoy the ground and is effective over this trip, though he looked exposed last time out and won't find this much easier, while the same can be said of course and distance winner Uptown Lad, who won't be sending the handicapper a Christmas card. But Diamond Sal comes here fresh and she can take advantage with a win.
