Verdict

SANDHURST is our recommendation in this contest with Winchester Red and Esme Rides Again on the shortlist. The Irish raider has ran creditably on his sorties to this side of the sea and having been thought good enough to race at the 2008 Cheltenham Festival, it could be argued that Cartmel is a massive drop in class. Winchester Red was beaten at Uttoxeter yesterday and it remains to be seen as to whether he will be turned out again. Esme Rides Again was pulled out of an engagement at Uttoxeter. She gave readily for her rider at Hexham. Getinbybutonlyjust may find this trip on the sharp side these days but he was far from disgraced in a Veterans event over 3m6f at the course. Shrewd Investor has proved disappointing since getting his head infront at Haydock. Leopold is best of the rest. Sandhurst looks to have been campaigned with military precision in pursuit of this race.
