Verdict
If she comes here after Beverley on Tuesday then Emerald Girl will probably be shortlist material for this sprint, but preference is for MELODY IN THE MIST, who will be tough to beat. David Barron's filly improved for her debut when going very close here over course and distance last month. That was the best piece of form on offer at the time of writing and with the likelihood that there is more to come on ground she handles then we will side with her. Emerald Girl has had a couple of Carlisle runs, again showing more second time around, and she also acts well on a sound or quicker surface, so if she turns up then there is every reason to believe that she can give the selection plenty to do. Layla's Hero was doing all of his best work at the finish over 6f on his Thirsk debut. He should improve for the experience and the drop back in trip is not necessarily a bad move, as his late arrival on the scene was more down to greenness than lack of pace. Aintwogrand also showed progress from his first run to second, albeit not as marked as others in this race, including our selection, MELODY IN THE MIST.
