In depth
Verdict
Pequenita can follow up a recent course victory at the expense of Old Rolla and Lanzlo, with Mary Macs Lad best of the rest. Pequenita showed plenty of potential when scoring easily over fences at Towcester three weeks ago, but was reported to have scared herself on fast ground at Southwell next time and was pulled up. However she quickly made amends when popping in again here just three days later, rousted up well by Laurie McGrath to beat a decent little field of chasers. That win showed that she is improving, as she was only plating class over timber, but she reverts to the smaller obstacles now in great heart and is taken continue her good run. Old Rolla is still a maiden under rules but has been in very good form in point-to-points. If he can translate that form to this contest then he has each-way claims at least, along with Lanzlo who was outpaced behind Crystal Gift here last week. The step up in trip should help the recent Hexham winner to pose a threat, while of the remainder, any support for Mary Macs Lad should be noted. The Irish raider does not make as much appeal on form though as Pequenita who gets the vote.
