Verdict

Shulmin failed in an attempt to complete a hat-trick after dual successes here when pulled up on a return visit to the track four days ago in the race won by Volcanic Rock so now looks best watched. Tim Vaughan has his string in good heart so Gift Of The Gods warrants plenty of respect and is surely better than we saw of him when outpaced in third place behind Supercede over hurdles at Perth last month. He should do better with that run under his belt back over fences today but a better bet may be BYNACK MHOR, who gets the vote. Lawney Hill's gelding has shown progressive form in points of late and carried that improvement over to regulation fences with recent efforts at Uttoxeter; he can resume winning ways today. Irish raider Ihaventabob is another to consider but may have to settle for minor honours.
