    In depth

    Verdict

Royal Melbourne gets the vote here with Lake Wakitipu and Parchment rating the main dangers. The selection was a fair second behind Fossgate last time out, looks sure to be suited by the longer trip and off the same mark here he looks the value bet in an open affair. Parchment rates the main danger on his latest third behind Let It Be but that form has since been let down and with this in mind he looks worth taking on. Lake Wakitipu is another that could go well on his best form but he just gave the impression the handicapper had caught up with him when fifth behind Merrymaker. Planters Punch was fourth behind Cleaver last time and is another with place claims but he is very one paced. Of the remainder Dan's Heir has dropped to a handy mark and could go well at a price but for the winner we return to Royal Melbourne to small stakes.
