Verdict

John Quinn's BONFIRE NIGHT has shown some decent form in his first two outings, and is taken to make it third time lucky, being preferred to Greyfriarschorista and Decimus Meridius. Placed in his previous outings, the experience could stand him in good stead; he was finishing with a real rattle over the six furlong uphill finish at Pontefract last time out, so sending him downhill over slightly further looks to be a positive move. The high draw would be a negative, but it's a fairly small field. Greyfriarschorista and Decimus Meridius look the pick of the newcomers, from yards more than capable of turning out first time winners. Both hold provisional Derby entries. Howard Johnson's colt is a son of Danehill Dancer, and cost connections 160,000 last year. Support for either would encourage us, but we think experience could pay dividends here and we'll take Bonfire Night to sparkle.
