Verdict

Bucharest can defy topweight, with Cheery Cat, Slip Star and Cadogen Square seen as the main threats. Normally when the money is down on a Wigham inmate, there are no mistakes, but a gamble went astray on one at Lingfield at the weekend, and hopefully the losses will be got back in spades here. Bucharest landed something of a touch on his return from a 168-day absence at Brighton in June, and duly followed up at Kempton when sent off favourite again next time. Having made all on both occasions, it was no surprise to see the same tactics adopted on a return visit to that track three weeks ago when he was a solid market leader. Very unlucky to be pipped on the post that day, he is taken to crack out and make all under Jamie Spencer. Cheery Cat has a 6lb penalty for his recent success at Redcar, and as he does not win too often, is worth taking on, while Slip Star, third at Thirsk on Saturday, has it to do on her handicap bow. Cadogen Square was not beaten far in a close finish there on Friday, but will again find conditions plenty lively enough, and this is best left to Bucharest.
